Out driving around in the hills, weather got bad. I had an appointment for new tires the next morning but at the moment I was as good as bald. Started as rain then the temperature droped as I got up in the hills. Next thing I know the roads are flash freezing as the rain turns to sleet/rain/snow mix. As I try to desend the steep mountain road working the brakes and white knuckling the wheel. It was to slick to stop but also to steep to crawl. I was doing about 40 dispute my best efforts not to be. I forget the exact series of events that lead up to what happened next but the back end broke lose and I spun around was able to collect my self and point straight a head briefly and I counter steer to stop the spin from continuing. I stab the throttle and the rear brakes again. I go side ways at the steeped grade on the drop, my weight shifts and I flip. Once, twice, three times?? I’m not sure, next thing I know I’m back on my wheels sliding sideways and my throttle is pinned. Last thing I remember here was watching the telephone pole flying towards me. Ten feet, 8 feet, 5 feet, 3 feet, one foot. Then black.. I woke up in a ditch facing up hill looking at the telephone pole with my engine red lining and my wheels spinning in mud not moving the jeep.
The potential it the column between the front and rear doors. 6 inches from my head. I didn’t so much as have a bruise on my body. The 1986 wagoner is a fucking tank!

Probably not my first choice, but, I did this in a mid-90s Grand Cherokee. Spun on an icy road, went into the field sideways, tires caught in the almost non-existent ditch. Rolled twice, landed on the wheels. No more windshield, no more passenger side window, headlights and turn signals hanging out the front. All the doors worked but the right front and the back hatch was stiff.
Shut it off. Got out, and checked found no leaks. Started it back up and sat in it with the heater on til the cop go there. Once the flatbed wrecker showed up I went back out to it, and drove it right up to the back of the truck. I kept it another three years to drive around the farm. Good damn truck.
